Why coaching using personality assessments is more effective during the pandemic?

Evidence-based, scientifically validated personality assessments have been proven time and again to be far more accurate and effective when used as a tool in coaching leaders than just competency assessments.

Evidence-based, scientifically validated personality assessments have been proven time and again to be far more accurate and effective when used as a tool in coaching leaders than just competency assessments.

Competency assessments are like looking at the tip of an iceberg. Competencies are observable, easy to develop and are measurable. Addressing competencies does not necessarily lead to changes in behaviour.

Personality assessments, however, take a deep dive into what things motivate and drive an individual to achieve their desires and goals, identify an individual’s strength that will enable them to achieve those goals and finally as people really want to solve the friction that they experience between achieving their goals, getting things done, getting along with people, personality assessments are a great tool that measures the roadblocks and blind spots that will stand in their way.

Humanity is going through continuous traumatic stress right now. We are facing the fear of death, fear of infections, economic collapse, and isolation. The pandemic has intensified our born natural responses to trauma and stresses ie. our fight, flight, and freeze response.

Coaching using personality assessments during times of high stress and anxiety helps people by providing specific coping skills and recalibrating to find new ways of dealing with these new levels of stress and anxiety.

Today’s coaching must be broadened to engage in topics well beyond pure leadership development, emergence, and effectiveness. Coaches now need to look at their clients more holistically to help them deal with anxiety, depression, stress, and trauma.

Personality assessments will help both the coach and the individual better understand the person and their triggers so that a practical and effective plan is developed.
